I write this post not based on deep knowledge about Kubrick’s work because I am far from having it, but much more guided by my admiration for the work of this great artist and the emotion that his photos make me feel.

Feelings about film photography: “use the treasures you have kept”
After almost 40 years I am back to ‘analogue’. I return to analog photography, film photography that is associated with my digital photography. This phrase “use the treasures you have kept” is from a great friend of mine – Ricardo ‘Lilika‘ Lima – and it expresses a deep feeling about the film photography that he feels and that I have felt again in the last few days. Portraits
“My portraits are a lot more about me than they are about the people I photograph.”
Richard Avedon.
“In portrait photography you can not strip the surface to see the real nature of a person. The surface is all you’ve got. You work with what’s there – what’s waiting to be discovered.”
Richard Avedon in “Avedon at work. In the American West by Laura Wilson “.
“I am going to find what is permanent in this face. Truth comes with fatigue. He displays himself just as he is, just as he did not want to look.”
Irving Penn.

In praise of becoming a better person
The more I read about this subject, the more I feel convinced that the photographs I make are primarily meant to make me happier and a better person, not a better photographer. Continue reading “In praise of becoming a better person”

Diary of a trip
The slightly yellow and warm waters of the Paraná River (27° 16 ’09 “S, 58° 14′ 38” W), just south of beloved South America, bathe a region that is home to incredibly beautiful and important aquatic ecosystems (riverine and wetlands) for the ecology of many species of terrestrial and aquatic animals and plants of the world.
