The Blue World

“The world is blue at its edges and in its depth…For many years, I have been moved by the blues at the far edge of what can be seen, that color of horizon, of remote mountain ranges, of anything far away. The color of that distance is the color of an emotion, the color of solitude and of desire, the color of there seen from here, the color of where you are not. And the color of where you can never go. For the blue is not the place those miles away at the horizon…Blue is the color of longing for the distances you never arrive in, for the blue world.” (Lisa Elmalech) Continue reading “The Blue World”

Reflections in B&W: Amazonian scenes.

These are some old shots in digital B&W made in the Brazilian Amazon Region at Negro River (no so far from Manaus, AM-Brasil) and its tributaries named locally as ‘igarapés’. The innundated forests are named ‘igapós’. Hope you appreciate them. Cheers!!! Continue reading “Reflections in B&W: Amazonian scenes.”

“Photography is an expression of those (one’s) desires” – daido moriyama. 2012.

Life passes. Time is an inexorable, inflexible, relentless variable. And for many reasons – I couldn’t say which ones, but I don’t think I’m interested in knowing – they end up thinking that when they reach ‘adulthood’ (really old age) they are not able to produce things (anything, coming from any work) and that only he who is in his full ‘minority’ (read youth) is able to produce. Amazon in Black & White

Here are some shots of the Amazon (Manaus, Belém and Ilha de Marajó) taken in April 2012. I am suspicious in saying this because I love black & white photography. But, the strength of black & white is apparent, even though they are photographs of a region where there is a lot of color. Continue reading “Amazon in Black & White”

Black & White landscapes: the beauty of the rocky vegetation of Serra da Canastra (Brazil)

I have a real fascination for mountains and their unique rocky vegetation. I feel that black & white photography is the best way to express how I see this incredibly wonderful ecosystem of Serra da Canastra (Minas Gerais state, SE Brazil). Continue reading “Black & White landscapes: the beauty of the rocky vegetation of Serra da Canastra (Brazil)”

Passion for roads: losing myself to find myself

I don’t know how to explain – and maybe there is no need to explain anything – … I just like to stretch out on the roads … to lose myself on them and, perhaps, to find myself in their long curves, straights, downhill and ascents, itersections.

Monochrome or color landscapes?

I always thought that extremely multi-colored landscapes – like the ones I recently photographed in Jujuy and Salta provinces, Northwest Argentina – should only be photographed and published in some way in color. But the results I have obtained in black and white have delighted me. Continue reading “Monochrome or color landscapes?”

“Jujuy Palette” in black and white. Part Ia.

I now share black and white photos of northwestern Argentina – a beautiful region with stunning landscapes.

This series was called “Palette Jujuy” where I try to express the strength and emotion of the multicolored hills that are in the region of Pumamarca. Continue reading ““Jujuy Palette” in black and white. Part Ia.”

Always shoot even knowing that many have photographed it before. Jujuy Palette. Part I.

I recently read on a blog that even though many of you have already photographed that before, you should photograph it. For one simple reason: your photos are YOUR vision of life, of people, of that place, of the world. Continue reading “Always shoot even knowing that many have photographed it before. Jujuy Palette. Images of a profound Brazil that I miss so much

A feeling that has been on me for the last months: ‘feeling of a profound Brazil’.

These are images of people, customs of life (personal and collective), beautiful untouched rural landscapes or small-scale farming, all very authentic, where men and women work hard day by day and live a simple life far from the sophistication of famous urban and industrial centers. Not surprisingly, they are first and foremost very happy.

“Embraced by the light” or “Why I love black and white photography”

This post was set up in celebration of my first anniversary of my first post on my WordPress site. Done exactly on December 1, 2018. In it I will try to express a very peculiar feeling that occurs when shooting and I hope you feel like me: feel embraced by the light. Blessed by the light. Purified by the light. Continue reading ““Embraced by the light” or “Why I love black and white photography””
